A difficult part of making quilts and purses and then selling them is that you want to be sure not to sell a copyrighted design. One such design was used for carpet at the Hilton Hotel that is connected to the convention center in Houston where I attended the International Quilt Festival. The creator of the design pictured is
Paula Nadelstern. The carpet designs were taken without permission from her book, Kaleidoscopes & Quilts. A lawsuit ensued and
Couristan now gives credit to Paula Nadelstern and mentions her as the inspiration behind the beautiful design.

A few years ago, my blogging friend,
Loretta introduced me to kaleidoscope quilts. I had posted a picture of a quilt and asked for help identifying the pattern used for the beautiful blocks of color. Loretta knew that it was a kaleidoscope pattern. I have always loved the pattern and hope, someday, to make a quilt using Paula Nadelstern’s pattern.
It sure made beautiful carpet!
