Quilt Blocks on Barns

Have you seen all the quilt blocks being displayed on barns around the countryside? I love them! My mom thought it would be nice to have a quilt block on the side of her mini barn and so I made one for her for her birthday in September.

My husband cut a sheet of plywood in half and made a frame around the edge. Mom picked out a few patterns that she liked and I lined off the board.

I painted the areas that wouldn’t touch each other since I didn’t know how well the painter’s tape would keep the colors from running into each other.

After letting the first sections dry, I painted the next areas.

I sprayed polyurethane over the entire block, front and back. My husband hung the block on Mom’s barn last week.

Looks pretty good, breaks up the site of the barn.

How lovely! Never seen these on barns but I live close to a big city and haven’t driven into the countryside in quite a while.

    Thanks for sharing!
