Flying Geese Hit Me

Check out my give away; described in a post below

I have not made anything out of fabric in so long that I have begun to worry. I had a battle with some medication a few weeks ago and I was too dizzy to even look at fabric. That was my excuse then but I really have no excuse now! I sorted through my fabric, cleaned up my sewing table and set out my cutting mats to prepare for a new project. I am beginning to feel the fabric working its way into my system again!

All it takes is a few looks at my fat quarters or jelly rolls and I am ready to begin sewing. I think I will put the borders on this quilt top and get it ready for a backing.

I see that Hobby Lobby put a 40% coupon in my email so I hope to run over there this week and find out if they still have the brown flowered fabric that I thought would look good as a backing. I bought the kit for this quilt top in Nashville, TN last fall. I made 72 flying geese for this layout! I shall be looking out for flying geese on the next pattern I choose. Those geese took a while to put together! I have a new appreciation for quilts with flying geese in them.

I hope everyone has a great week and gets to put chores aside long enough to sew and create. I will be gathering things for the tax man and then I’ll be at my machine.

Hi Karen!! This is so cute with the little fabric swatches. I really like it!

Now I will be interested in the rest of your quilt procedure. Are you going to write up the backing process? I made a little quilt from flannel and had trouble in the end with the final stitching together part. It was my first attempt and there were a few areas that bunched which I had to do over. ie rip seam and resew. I tried finding help on the internet but could not find specifically what I was wondering about.

I’d really be interested in how you did this.

    Bye for now!

Every time I stop by your Blog or Lynne’s I get very envious of your creativity. When it comes to sewing I’m a nitwit. I love the pattern and I know it will be gorgeous when you’re finished. Good luck with those taxes.

Next time DUCK (flying geese? get it?). Glad you fought the battle with the med and won, you did win right? Can’t wait to see your backing methods, as I just realized the baby shower is this Sunday and so will be starting the quilt I mentioned before tomorrow! It’s a little stroller quilt, so I should be okay. I think. Actually I have no idea, since I’ve never done one.
