Making A Difference

Today I did something a little daring. I gave one of my bags to the secretary of our church. It makes me nervous to give something that I make. I am never sure if the person “really” likes what I make or if they are just trying to be nice. I have a feeling that Kay “really” likes her new bag. I wanted to do something special for Kay because she does so much for our church. I sometimes feel like people take advantage of her but you never hear her complain. She always has a smile on her face. She has been through a lot. Her husband has throat cancer and she has battled breast cancer. She is a fighter. I am proud to know her.

Another woman who makes a difference in our world is Shelly who authors the blog, I’m Still Standing. Shelly is a mom to Rebeka, 20, a very active college senior and Ainsley, a very sweet 17 year old special needs teen. I have enjoyed reading her blog and reading posts such as:

At one point in her childhood I became the “voice” for families who did not have an accessible place to play and she joined in and even spoke before the House and Senate. I know this taught her a great lesson. But going to Annapolis I remember we walked into the Capital and I was holding her hand.

Yes, this is a woman who makes things happen. Check out Shelly’s blog. You will come away with a new friendship.
