Buying Up Fabric

On Thursday, my sister and I attended a lecture given by master quilter JoAnn Belling. This picture is of my sister, Grace, JoAnn, and me. She was a natural speaker who was funny even when she didn’t mean to be. She doesn’t have a formal art background but has an eye for color. Her use of beads, buttons and shells has me wanting to add something to my quilts.

I was inspired by all the quilters at the festival. If I wasn’t careful, I could have racked up quite a bit of credit card debt. It would have been easy to do. If you find that you are buried in debt, check out ConsumerCreditDebt.org and let them help you. ConsumerCreditDebt.org was created to help people who need credit repair as well as educate consumers about credit and debt. I know how easy it is to get behind. The website will help you become educated about credit card features, terms and conditions. They have solutions for settling your credit card debt.

I went from booth to booth trying to talk myself out of buying everything in sight. I did buy a kit to make a log cabin quilt with civil war fabrics. I bought another kit that is red, white and blue fabrics with a star here and there. It was all I could do to maintain control of my spending. I went a little bit overboard.

I’ve never had the space in my tiny apartment to get into quilting with all the other crafts I have stored there, but I sure admire a good quilter’s handiwork. Perhaps you’ve run into quilting work and wearable apparel by Lyric Kinard-if not-check her out-she’s good! http://www.lyrickinard.com/ (She did not ask me to give her a plug, but she is my friend and so I am proud of her.)

  4. I can well-imagine going overboard at such a gathering!! You must have been in heaven to see all those goodies…thanks for sharing!

    Best wishes,

  5. Excellent post! Great information, do you think that quilting as of late has become a HUGE fad. There’s a hipster bar up the street from my house that has a quilting night and no lie there’s like 40 guys and gals quilting away.

    Thanks Andrew!

Oh wow. I love her site. I wish I lived closer so I could take a beading workshop. You could quilt using a hoop if you don’t have room for a big quilting frame. Just a thought.

I was in heaven. If only I had time to make all the things I saw. Too bad I have to cook and do laundry. LOL

Oh really? I would be there quilting if it was close. It is so much fun to get together with other quilters and work away.
