Happy Birthday Dr. Suess
Today is Dr. Suess’s birthday. In case you have forgotten, he is the magical creator of those wonderful books like Cat In the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. We have a collection of his books that were my husbands when he was a child. They never go out of style do they? I loved reading those books to my kids.
Theodor Seuss Geisel (March 2, 1904 – September 24, 1991) was an American writer and cartoonist best known for his classic children’s books under the pen name Dr. Seuss, including The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. His books have become staples for many children and their parents. Among Dr. Seuss’ trademarks were his rhyming text and his outlandish creatures. He wrote and illustrated 44 children’s books. Many of his books have been adapted into short animated programs. His books The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch and Horton Hears a Who! have been adapted into feature films, and the musical Seussical is an adaption of all his books.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is one of the best-known children’s books by Dr. Seuss. It is written in rhymed verse, with illustrations by the author. It showcases the famous character, The Grinch, and has been adapted to other media, also discussed below.

I love cat in the hat and the Grinch. The fantasy is great and wonderful. I read the story to my 3 years old daughter before she’s go to sleep. She’s keep on babling Grinchie mommy, Grinchie please..
I love the Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who (I want to see the new movie) and The Grinch. It’s not Christmas unless we watch The Grinch! We own it on dvd too!
I think everybody loves the Grinch! The idea of creating such a funny story by Suess was amazing and no Christmas without the Grinch!!
I love the one about the star bellied sneetches ( I think that’s what they are called), Horton hears a who, and of course the Grinch. And Green Eggs and Ham. Dr. Seuss was the greatest.

What a blast from the past ! I learned to sharpen my reading skills from reading “The cat in the hat “, “Green eggs and ham”, and “The Grinch That Stole Christmas”.
What a delight those stories are.
I also taught my grandchildren to read starting with these three books, after taking them to the movies made of them! Dr Seuss made learning fun both then and now.

The thing I like most of all is the teaching of morals and ethics in a funny, rhyming way that appeals to children the world over. There’s something about the Grinch that you don’t see as a child but when you get older you see that the lesson is meant not just for the child who hears the story, but for the adult who reads it to them.
