There's Corn in that Carpet!
I discovered, while talking with our Mohawk Carpet representative, that Mohawk is trying to do it’s part in keeping our planet green. They are constantly seeking ways to reduce, recycle, reuse and renew. You can learn more at greenworksblog.com.
I wanted to mention a few of the ways Mohawk is trying to be a good steward.
100% of water from the manufacturing process at most Mohawk ceramic tile facilities is reused and never discharged as waste.
Mohawk diverts more than 1.75 billion pounds of pre-consumer and post-consumer waste from landfills each year.
Recycled plastic bottles are transformed into components that make Mohawk EverStrand residential carpeting.
The one that amazed me was that some carpet is made from corn by products!
From the website, I read that about 1/3 of the material is made from renewable resources from sugar and corn, which is then processed into fibers, mixed with nylon and made into this carpet.
